Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida Receives $10,000 Grant from Foxwynd Foundation to Support Wildlife Care.

March 2026

The Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida has received a $10,000 grant from the Foxwynd Foundation. This generous donation from the Foxwynd Foundation DAF will support the sanctuary’s lifesaving care for injured and orphaned native wildlife through its initiative, “Wildlife Care Fund: Bridging the 2026 Patient Gap.”

For more than 40 years, the Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida has provided medical treatment and rehabilitation to injured and orphaned native wildlife with the goal of returning healthy animals back to their natural habitats. Each year, the sanctuary cares for thousands of wildlife patients and connects hundreds of thousands of community members to local ecosystems through education and outreach.

Demand for wildlife care continues to grow across the region. In 2025, the sanctuary treated approximately 4,100 animals. Based on current intake trends, the organization conservatively projects caring for approximately 4,628 animals in 2026, an increase of more than 500 additional patients in a single year.

Through the Wildlife Care Fund: Bridging the 2026 Patient Gap, the Foxwynd Foundation grant will help cover direct care costs for these additional patients. Funding will support essential resources such as medical supplies, medications, species-appropriate nutrition, enrichment, and daily husbandry required to stabilize and rehabilitate injured wildlife until they can safely return to the wild.

The grant will also power a community matching campaign, allowing every donation to the Wildlife Care Fund to be doubled. Through this challenge, the Foxwynd Foundation’s $10,000 investment will match community contributions dollar-for-dollar, expanding the total impact of the grant and helping ensure that every wildlife patient arriving in 2026 receives the high standard of care the sanctuary has provided for more than four decades. Community members who would like to participate in the matching campaign can make a donation on our website.

We are deeply grateful to the Foxwynd Foundation for their support of our wildlife hospital and the animals that depend on it,” said Emily Holden, Executive Director. “This partnership allows us to respond to rising patient demand while continuing to provide lifesaving care for the wildlife that share our region.

Pamela Villagra, Executive Director of The Foxwynd Foundation, stated: “We are honored to support the Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida through this grant. The sanctuary’s dedication to rehabilitating injured and orphaned wildlife is truly inspiring, and we are proud to help ensure that every animal receives the care it needs to thrive and return safely to the wild.

Through this partnership, the Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida will continue its mission of rehabilitating native wildlife with the goal of wild release, while empowering the community to participate in conservation through wildlife response, education, and stewardship.
