The Problem

Our sanctuary has always stood strong for wildlife, but our current property puts us at risk. Over the years, we have experienced multiple floods – the worst in 2014 when more than six feet of water covered our land and four feet poured into our building. That night, our staff swam through floodwaters to evacuate every single patient in our care. By some miracle, every animal and staff member made it out safely.

This was not a hurricane, just an average storm that lingered too long. As storms intensify across our region, we know it’s only a matter of time before we face another crisis. Each flood puts animals, staff, and critical medical equipment in danger. On top of flood risk, our current property is no longer keeping up with our growth: our hospital space is too small, enclosures are limited, and the layout restricts how we care for patients and welcome the public. We are doing everything we can, but it’s clear: we need a safer, stronger home for the future.

The Solution

We are building that future now. A new property will allow us to provide state-of-the-art care for thousands of wild patients each year while also opening the door to new opportunities for education and community connection. Designed with growth and resilience in mind, this facility will finally give us the space we need to treat animals in modern hospital enclosures, expand our education programs, and invite the public to experience wildlife like never before.

By securing a new home, we will ensure that this sanctuary can serve our community for generations to come – a place where wildlife rehabilitation and education thrive side by side. With your support, we can move from a floodplain to a future of stability, growth, and lasting impact for people and wildlife alike.

Your Role

We cannot build this future alone. The vision for a safer, stronger sanctuary can only come to life through the support of people who believe in the power of wildlife to enrich our lives. Every donation, every partnership, and every voice raised on behalf of wildlife brings us one step closer to breaking ground on our new home.

This is more than a building – it’s a legacy. By investing in this campaign, you’re ensuring that future generations will grow up in a community where injured animals have a place to heal, and children have a place to connect with the wild world around them. Together, we can turn a history of flooding and risk into a future of hope, resilience, and impact.
